Buzz (버즈) is an all-male Korean pop music band. Their music largely consists of both plaintive rock-ballads such as "Coward" (겁쟁이) and moderately melodic, driving rock songs such as "Leaving on a Journey to Me" (나에게로 떠나는 여행). All of their songs are sung in Korean with a smattering of English phrases, as is common in Korean pop music.

Their song "Gliding" (활주) was used as the Korean opening to the popular Japanese anime, Naruto. Their song "Fighting Spirit" (투지) was also used as another Korean opening to Naruto.

In July 2007 the band officially went on hiatus as four of the band members began to, or had already begun to serve the 26 month mandatory service in the South Korean Army required of all South Korean men. Min Kyung Hoon, the vocalist of the group will proceed in a solo career while the anticipated fourth album is due to be completed once the band complete their duties. A new vocalist will be auditioned at a later stage.

Isak N Jiyeon (이삭 N 지연) was a Korean female duo formed by SM Entertainment in 2002. The group has since been disbanded. Many think the disbandment was due to low album sales and lack of popularity, but that wasn't the case; the only problem with the duo was timing: Isak had to go back to her home in southern California because of her family situation (her American father and Korean mother separated). Although Jiyeon, the other member of the duo, is currently involved in SM's project named The Grace, a four-member Korean girl group that sings, dances and acts, Isak says that the duo is not done yet; "Nobody knows when the new album will come out, but we do talk about it a lot." Since Isak is still under SM Entertainment, she is featured in the SM Town albums and videos and continues to do a variety of different work, such as being DJ and VJ for Arirang TV, MC work for various networks, and small acting roles on network television.

Girls’ Generation ruled the pop charts yesterday, as their new album “Oh!” topped numerous best-seller lists.

It took just 10 minutes for the album by the nine-member band to rise to the top of the best-seller list on Monkey 3, an online music store.

“The only MP3 file released to the public on Wednesday was the title song ‘Oh!’ and it instantly went to No.1 in an hour,” said an official from Melon, an online music site that offers downloadable MP3 files.

Web sites were being bombarded with orders for the album, the second full-length album by the group, even before it was released.

“We started to receive preorders for ‘Oh!’ at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 24,” said Kim Ki-jeong, head of the multiproducts division at Yes24.com, a major Korean online retailer. “The album was the best-selling product of the day in 30 minutes.”

Yes24.com declined to say how many preorders it received, but they did report that it is still No. 1 on their pop music chart.

Yesterday, the title track also came in first or second on many Korean Web sites, including Melon, Bugs Music and Cyworld.com. The music is a mixture of electronic pop styles. In the song, the girls’ confess their love for their male friends.

Group members Jessica and Tiffany sing a duet called “Caramel Coffee,” another of the songs among the album’s 12 tracks. And the song “Martian Virus” features Key from boy idol group SHINee.

Some of Korea’s hottest musicians have written songs for the album, including E-Tribe, who composed the music for the group’s hit song “Gee”; Kenzie, who wrote the music and lyrics for “Oh!”; and Yu Young-seok.

Meanwhile, the “Oh!” music video was also released to the public yesterday. In the video, the nine band members appear as cheerleaders and dance

Boy band TVXQ's new single "BREAK OUT!" has topped Japan's Oricon daily singles chart the day of its release.

The group's 29th single album, released Wednesday, sold close to 170,000 copies to top the prestigious chart, easily beating out No. 2 L'Arc En Ciel who sold 33,000 copies of their single titled "BLESS."

They plan on releasing their first best album titled "Best Selection 2010" sometime next month.

TVXQ, who debuted in 2004 with the single "Hug", became popular not only in Korea but other Asian countries as well. Their singing career in Japan has been a success in particular -- last year, they became the first foreign artist to top the Oricon singles charts six times with their 27th single "Share the World/We are!"

Despite speculation that the group may disband with three of the five members being involved in a legal dispute with their agency SM Entertainment, TVXQ has continued their activities in Japan.

Sunmi of Korea's top girl band Wonder Girls is to take a break from show business in March and go back to school. The 18-year old will be seamlessly replaced by Hyelim, who has been trained up in the JYP Entertainment stable for the past three years. She is reportedly fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

"After long deliberation and discussion among Sunmi and her family, the members of the Wonder Girls, and the company, we finally concluded that Sunmi will quit as a member of the Wonder Girls and return to Korea and to school," JYP said in a press release. "The company will support her return to show business if she wishes to do so after going to university."

It quoted Sunmi as saying, "I'm coming home after wrapping up a year of activities in the United States in February. I would like to resume my career in show business after becoming a university student. Being on stage and touring 50 cities in the U.S. in the past year was a happy and valuable experience, but I'm not sure I can continue to live like this in the future." She reportedly told the agency that she would like to take dancing and singing lessons with the company to prepare her comeback.

Female idol group KARA will be back with a minialbum coming mid-February and resuming their promotional activities.

A representative said on 26th January, “The aim is for KARA to comeback mid-February. And the plan is for them to release a minialbum. Currently we are working on the title song and also the member concept.”

Many speculations are that chances are high that KARA will make their comeback on music shows after the lunar new year holidays.

It seemed that since KARA and So Nyeo Shi Dae will be promoting in the same time period, a ’showdown’ between the 2 groups will be unavoidable.

So Nyeo Shi Dae will be releasing their 2nd full length album on 28th January and do promotions for the album.

Meanwhile, KARA will be having their first Japanese showcase on the 7th next month.
